SANTA CLARA, Calif.—ARM TechCon 2015 inaugurates a new event feature and reprises a popular exhibit area, both tailored for engineers and developers looking for the latest information on trusted hardware and software tools for their Internet of Things designs.

Both revolve around ARM mbed OS and its development ecosystem—technologies designed to enable IoT design to keep up with the human imagination in this exploding application area. TechCon 2104 mbed zone photo

The focus on mbed OS has two major pillars at ARM TechCon (Nov. 10-12): One is the return of the mbed Zone on the convention center exhibits floor, where developers and engineers can connect with ARM experts to chat about mbed OS and surrounding support services to ease and accelerate system development.

The second—new this year—is a full day of mbed OS-related sponsored presentations on Wed. Nov. 11 in Grand Ballroom D in the Hyatt Santa Clara. Included in the day-long focus will be updates on mbed 3.0, deployment insights from experts such as IBM IoT Fellow John Cohn, Freescale’s Michael Norman, and founder Pilgrim Beart, the latest from Thread, the IoT-related networking protocol, and more.

“We’re peeling back the layers and giving the engineers a view of how you practically use mbed and how you can contribute,” said Bee Hayes-Thakore, ARM director of marketing for IoT. “The key thing is that attendees can hear from the people on the front lines dealing with the same challenges they’re confronting.”

In addition to lively discussions around connectivity, attendees will get deep insights into security considerations around IoT and mbed.

“The mbed OS is open and accessible by all technology platforms, but security and connectivity are not optional,” Hayes-Thakore said. “If they’re not done right, it could make or break IoT.”
